I’m not trying to sound jaded or romanticize the past because I think those sorts of attitudes are incredibly silly, but it’s honestly been like, a decade since the show was consistently good and that’s more than enough time for someone to assume that the show’s current incarnation is all it ever was

I think it IS already here but not just because the writers maybe getting lazy or anything but because the majority of viewers now are less interested in the kind of topics and information that are needed to understand the kind of quality jokes that used to be on The Simpsons.
